Sean Willett

Biography

Co-founder & Chief Strategy Officer · Goodbit

Sean Willett is the co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Goodbit, where he helps lead the company’s strategy, technology, operations, and public voice.

For more than 25 years, Sean has helped build and lead mission-driven organizations working at the intersection of technology, communications, and public engagement. His work combines organizational strategy, product leadership, operations, brand, and storytelling, with a focus on turning ambitious civic and social-impact ideas into platforms, teams, and campaigns that can work in the real world.

Before Goodbit, Sean co-founded and led Product & Strategy at Digital Public Square, a not-for-profit initiative that originated at the University of Toronto. There, he helped shape the organization’s strategy and operations while leading the design and launch of digital platforms and outreach campaigns that reached tens of millions of people, including audiences in closed, censored, and high-risk environments.

From 2012 to 2015, Sean served as Chief of Communications for the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto, later becoming Director of the University’s original Digital Public Square project. His broader work has included political process monitoring tools, anonymous conversation platforms, interactive documentaries, digital safety initiatives, and support services for young people navigating sexuality, bullying, and online risk.

Across his career, Sean has focused on a consistent problem: how to turn complex public-interest work into organizations, products, and communications that can earn trust, support participation, and endure.
