Farhaan Ladhani

Biography

Co-founder & CEO · Goodbit

Farhaan Ladhani is the CEO and co-founder of Goodbit, a pioneering platform that leverages digital engagement to connect, educate, and mobilize diverse communities worldwide. He co-founded Goodbit alongside Janice Stein and Sean Willett, building on their earlier work together as co-founders of Digital Public Square. With over 20 years of experience, Farhaan is a leader in digital strategy, particularly in complex and high-conflict environments, where he has successfully mobilized people through innovative and impactful communication initiatives.

Before co-founding Goodbit, Farhaan served nearly a decade with Global Affairs Canada, where he developed deep expertise in managing crisis communication and digital strategies in high-stakes international contexts. He served as Senior Digital Advisor to the Prime Minister of Canada, where he helped shape digital strategies addressing national challenges, including security, defence, and public engagement.

Farhaan’s international work includes postings at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C., and leading projects focused on the Middle East. His digital campaigns have reached millions across the region, supporting democratic movements and free expression in areas affected by censorship. He spearheaded efforts like equipping Egyptian activists with cutting-edge Silicon Valley technology to advance human rights during the Arab Spring. Additionally, Farhaan, in partnership with the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, led the Global Dialogue on the Future of Iran, engaging millions of Iranians and the diaspora in conversations on governance, human rights, and reform, creating safe spaces for political discourse despite heavy government censorship.

Farhaan brings the same approach to Canada's contested local projects, from major developments and new infrastructure to the introduction of new technologies in public space, where success turns less on technical merits than on whether communities understand and trust them. His work helps governments, institutions, and companies earn that social licence by meeting people where they are and surfacing what they actually believe.

Farhaan also serves in a number of governance roles that reflect his commitment to strong institutions and civic life. He sits on the boards of the Parliamentary Centre and Thrive Youth, and contributes to the governance of national community and Government of Canada institutions.
